14 Nobel Prize winners

The Gonville and Caius College has long historical associations with medical teaching and boasts of 14 Nobel prize winners. Famous alumni included:

Francis Crick (joint discoverer, along with James Watson, of the structure of DNA),

James Chadwick (discoverer of the neutron) and Howard Florey (developer of penicillin).

Stephen Hawking, previously Cambridge's Lucasian Chair of Mathematics Emeritus, is a current fellow of the college.

Besides Science, the college is also famous for its chapel choir which is one of the leading University choirs in the UK, with an impressive reputation built on an exciting catalogue of CD recordings.

The choir is embarking on an ambitious tour in Asia this summer, performing with the Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra, singing in three prestigious venues in Singapore, HK and Mumbai.
